Women in Fashion: A CAMWIB event - Cambridge Satchel US Store

On 15 March 2022, we participated in The University of Cambridge’s Women in Business Society (CAMWIB)’s last events of term. It was their Women in Fashion Panel, featuring model, creative director and social media star Mia Regan, artist and fashion designer Sadie Williams, and our very own Founder and CEO, Julie Deane CBE.

From left to right: Sadie Williams wears The Mini in Bonbon, Julie Deane CBE wears The Doctor's Bag in Midnight Black Calf Grain and Mia Regan wears The Traveller in Fizzy Grape.

Mia and Sadie joined us in our Cambridge shop for an exclusive pre-panel drinks reception with the CAMWIB committee and students from the University of Cambridge. Thank you to The Cambridge Gin Lab for the refreshments!

After mingling with fashion fans, Sadie and Mia picked out a favourite bag from our current collections. For Sadie, the Mini in Bonbon, embossed with her initials and for Mia, the Traveller in Fizzy Grape, embossed with a little mouse symbol. Cute!

After a gin and a chat, we hopped over the cobbled street to St John’s College, where 100 students waited for these three amazing women to speak. Sophie Lumsdon, Vice President and Head of Events at CAMWIB, spoke to Mia, Sadie and Julie about their varied careers in fashion. They covered everything from personal style, sustainability and dealing with misogyny in the industry.

If we can all agree on anything, it’s that the panel was exciting, enlightening and hunger-inducing. So, after students had a chance to chat to the panellists, the Cambridge Satchel team headed off for dinner with Mia, Sadie and the CAMWIB committee. A lovely end to a brilliant day!
