Something to watch
Make your weekend special with The Royal Opera House’s production of Don Pasquale. Donizetti’s comic tale of trickery and deception has delighted and surprised audiences for centuries. The witty story of a middle-aged man whose supposed young wife runs rings around him, with her own ulterior romantic purpose in mind, in combination with Donizetti’s sparkling score remains as fun and full of life as ever. With tickets starting at £5, you won’t want to miss this thrilling production.
And if you want to soak up some summer sun... come to the Royal Opera House Rosé Garden Party from 29th April - 15th May. Join them for a spring themed cocktail at their terrace bar, with views stretching from Covent Garden's historic apple market all the way to the London Eye. This lively pocket of London will transform into a Rosé-themed oasis. Not only will this be an Instagram opportunity that you won't want to miss, but the perfect chance to explore all that Covent Garden has to offer.
For the full Royal Opera House experience, don’t forget to visit their shop online or in person for some amazing bespoke products, including The Cambridge Satchel Co. x Royal Opera House x Harris Tweed collection.
Somewhere to stay
‘One big city, three hotels’. The Hoxton is a series of open-house hotels inspired by the diversity and originality of the streets and scenes that surround us - and we love it. Stay a night or two in their beautiful Holborn hotel, a stone’s throw away from our shop, as well as Covent Garden, Oxford Street and the British Museum. Alternatively, visit their Shoreditch and Southwark hotels further afield.
If visiting the Hoxton Holborn, enjoy a meal at Rondo, a neighbourhood restaurant offering seasonal, modern bistro dishes and great wines for all. It’s the kind of restaurant you want at the end of your street. Serious about food and drink but with a fun and relaxed, welcoming vibe. Strongly recommend!
Something to do
The Columbia Road Flower Market takes place every Sunday from 8am until 3pm; can you think of a better activity on a sunny weekend? Discover plants from around the world and breathe in a plethora of aromas as you walk down the street.
There you can find cut flowers, dried flowers, succulents, cacti, house plants, herbs and many more plants at affordable prices. The market’s plants change seasonally, from Christmas trees to spring herbs.
Many of the market traders have worked on the market all their lives and there are generations of flower sellers there - head there on a lazy Sunday and have a chat with them! The market is surrounded by plenty of shops and cafes too, so why not make a day of it?
